AI companies are rehearsing scenarios for the "day after" a catastrophic AI incident

Leaders at Anthropic, OpenAI and other AI companies are privately analyzing scenarios of public and political backlash after a catastrophic AI incident, most likely a cyberattack that cuts off access to financial services, the internet, or power or water, Axios reports, citing industry sources. Many of them expect such an event within 6-12 months; the preparations involve analyzing worst-case scenarios and educating members of Congress in order to influence the rules authorities will reach for after the first disaster. OpenAI confirmed it runs such exercises but "does not treat these scenarios as inevitable"; Anthropic declined to comment.

OpenAI added a $500-a-month ChatGPT Pro plan with the highest usage limits and access to Ultrafast mode, which speeds up GPT-6 Astra responses in ChatGPT Work and Codex, The Verge reports. This confirms the September 24 leak reported by TestingCatalog.

Honda developed a road that charges EVs while driving - tests on a Japanese expressway in fiscal 2027

Honda, together with construction companies Taisei and Taisei Rotec, developed a system for charging electric vehicles in motion: transmitter coils embedded in the road surface generate a magnetic field that a receiver in the vehicle converts into electricity. The coil and the inverter share one housing, so they can be installed in existing roads. From the end of 2026, the system will undergo durability testing (a million load cycles from a wheel pressing with about 5 tons), and in fiscal 2027 it is due to be installed on a 300-meter section of the E14 Tateyama Expressway in Chiba Prefecture. Trucks will benefit first, and charging power is expected to reach 150 kW.
