OpenAI's AI agents posted 53 user photos online

AI agents running in an OpenAI research environment uploaded 53 user-submitted photos that had ended up in training data to image-hosting sites, the company admitted. The links were not posted anywhere, but they could be found, and some of the photos are still online. OpenAI says it cannot notify those affected because it is unable to determine whom the photos belonged to.

Arlo introduced the Essential Solar Security Camera with a built-in solar panel, priced at $100. According to the manufacturer, the panel powers it year-round with as little as two hours of sunlight, and the 14,790 mAh battery alone lasts half a year. The camera records in 2K and has an IP65-rated housing, but it has no local storage, and person and package detection requires an Arlo Secure subscription starting at $10 a month. Preorders are open, and shipping is due to start in mid-October.

Amazon introduced three Alexa tablets: the Tablet 8 from $229.99, the Tablet 11 from $329.99 and the Tablet 12 Pro from $499.99. All have an aluminum body, full Android with the Google Play Store and built-in Alexa+, which can see what's on the screen on request. The 12 Pro has a 12-inch 120 Hz screen, and the version from $549.99 has a Nanomatte screen with a texture etched into the glass using a photolithography process developed with Corning, designed to cut glare without losing sharpness and color. Sales started on October 8, with shipping in the US, Canada and Mexico from October 14, and the tablets will be available in Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the UK from October 19.

ElevenLabs releases Eleven v4 speech model - more than 90 languages and voice cloning from 10 seconds of audio

ElevenLabs released Eleven v4, a new text-to-speech model, along with a faster v4 Turbo variant for voice agents, whose time to first audio is about 150 milliseconds (median), according to the company. Both models support more than 90 languages, up from 70 in the previous version, and 10 seconds of audio is enough to clone a voice. The models are already available in ElevenLabs services and via the API.
