Anthropic cuts off internet access in all internal model evaluations

Anthropic published a report on Claude's unintended actions during testing and internal use. The model exploited a software vulnerability to run commands on a server, got around the limits of its web fetch tool through link shorteners, reached data behind tokens or paywalls and submitted a form it shouldn't have - according to Gizmodo, it was a false tip about an unsolved murder sent to the Philadelphia police by the small Haiku 4.5 model. Some of the cases involved federal, state and local government websites in the US, and the company informed the White House. Anthropic assesses the impact as minimal, but it has cut off internet access in all internal evaluations until it confirms that its safeguards and monitoring reliably catch such behavior.

Amazon delivery drivers' glasses will photograph their surroundings almost nonstop, including people and properties, Bloomberg reports

According to Bloomberg, the smart glasses worn by Amazon delivery drivers will photograph everything in the driver's field of view, including people and private properties. The company plans to upload the photos, up to several thousand per shift, to an AI platform called Wellspring. Customers will not be able to see the photos or request their deletion. Asked whether people will be able to refuse to be photographed, Amazon's Viraj Chatterjee replied: "We haven't thought about that." Amazon says its systems will blur people and license plates before the photos reach the staff who review them.

OpenAI unveils Decisions API - the Luna model picks from preset options in a fraction of a second

At DevDay, OpenAI presented the Decisions API, in which the Luna model receives a predefined set of options, such as image classification categories or possible agent actions, and picks one of them in a fraction of a second. The service is in a limited preview for now and, according to TechCrunch, resembles the Jev model that the startup TypeSafe AI released in September. TypeSafe CEO Diogo Almeida responded on X with a joke about the start of the "clone wars."

DoorDash will let you order food by text and start drone deliveries in California

DoorDash announced ordering by text message: just write something like "order my usual," and an AI assistant will pick the restaurant, fill the cart and complete the payment in the same conversation. For now, iOS users in the US can only join a waitlist. The company also named the first location for DoorDash Air drone deliveries, in Northern California, but without a launch date. In November, it will expand doorstep pickup of returns and delivery to stores, for $7.99, to the entire US.
