Gemini 3.8 Live gets a face: an AI avatar that talks in real time

Google added Live Avatar to Gemini 3.8 Live - an animated character that moves its lips in sync with what it says and changes facial expressions during a conversation. The avatar speaks 97 languages and can show information on screen. For now it is available only to Gemini Enterprise customers, who can pick a ready-made character or create their own.

Anthropic launched Claude Frontier Academy and committed $100 million to training 10,000 engineers who deploy Claude in companies by the end of 2027. The program starts with a several-day in-person course that ends with a practical exam. Then, for 12 weeks, the participant leads a Claude deployment in their own organization. Participants must be nominated by their employer, and the first cohorts include engineers from Accenture, Deloitte, McKinsey, Morgan Stanley and Novo Nordisk, among others.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei will have a private dinner with Donald Trump at the White House on Sunday evening, Axios reports, and CNBC confirms it as well. It will be their first one-on-one meeting: Trump invited Amodei personally because the Anthropic CEO could not attend Thursday's state dinner in honor of Xi Jinping, which was attended by Sam Altman, Elon Musk, Jensen Huang and Mark Zuckerberg, among others. On Tuesday, Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson will meet with the heads of the biggest AI companies at the White House.

Apple announces tighter control of Full Disk Access in macOS - because of AI agents

Apple announced on its developer blog that it will become harder to grant apps the Full Disk Access permission in macOS. An app with this permission can read files, email, messages and browsing history. According to Apple, some developers use it in ways users are not fully aware of. The company attributes the change to the growing capabilities of AI agents. Granting access will require the user's explicit consent, but Apple has not given details or a timeline for the changes.
