GPT-6 Astra decrypted an Enigma message unread since 2005 in two days

OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra model took two days to decrypt the message MVUEH, sent by the German army on July 10, 1941, to the SS-Totenkopf division, Tom's Hardware reports, citing researchers at Crypto Cellar Research. The ciphertext had been publicly available since 2005, and no one had read it until now. The model picked it from a list of unsolved messages on its own, wrote an Enigma and bombe simulator in Python and C++, and read the request for a march route sent from Rosenow.

PewDiePie unveils Ajax - an AI model that doesn't refuse to answer and runs on a home computer

YouTuber PewDiePie presented Ajax - an AI model that can run on a home computer and from which he removed the refusal mechanism. It is a fine-tuned version of Alibaba's Qwen3.5-9B. It powers Odysseus, the YouTuber's earlier project: an assistant running on the user's computer that handles email and calendar and browses the web. According to the author, OpenAI banned his account twice while he was working on the model, once for distillation, that is, training one model on another model's answers.

He stressed that AI "won't replace people," but added that anyone can now create content "almost at the level of a Hollywood studio."

Companies such as Waymo, Tesla and Zoox will have to send their own technicians to the scene, and remote vehicle operators will have to work in the US and hold a valid California driver's license. The law takes effect on July 1, 2028.
